Thanks to grants from MacArthur Foundation and The Chicago Community Trust, the Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community (CBCAC) has launched Chinatown Spotlight, a Chinese-language newspaper, a WeChat public account “华埠Spotlight“ and a bilingual news site.

Chinatown Spotlight strives to be a trusted news source and serves the Chinese-American community with diverse coverage, from human-interest stories, news-you-can-use to policy analysis.

We’re seeking:

  • Chicagoland-based writers with a deep curiosity about our region’s Chinese-American community

  • Keen interest in community concerns and policy issues

  • Proven reporting and writing skills in either Chinese or English, or both

We’re offering:

  • Competitive pay commensurate with the writer’s experience and the complexity of the assignment

  • Hands-on mentorship from our editors and citywide training networking opportunities with other media grantees of The MacArthur Foundation and Press Forward Chicago at The Chicago Community Trust

  • Multi-platform byline on our WeChat channel, bilingual website, and the monthly print issue.

在芝加哥的华人社区中，还有许许多多没有被充分发掘和讲述的故事 。无论你是对宏观政策的本地落点感兴趣，还是擅长用微观的个体故事映射大环境的变化，我们都诚挚邀请你加入，成为我们的内容创作者 ！

我们在邀请你加入，如果你：

  • 身在芝加哥，对这座城市以及华人社区有强烈的好奇心。

  • 对某段历史切片、某个政策变迁或社区议题充满热情。

  • 有表达欲且有一定的写作基础（中英文均可），具备中英文采访能力。
