"Local journalism is the bedrock of public life."

With the support of the MacArthur Foundation, the Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community (CBCAC) launched "Chinatown Spotlight," a local Chinese-language original news project in Chicago. We document the lived experiences of Chinese immigrants, explain the local impacts of macro policies, and center on community public interests.

Our current multimedia platforms include the WeChat public account "华埠Spotlight," our bilingual blog website, and our monthly print newspaper in Traditional Chinese, Chinatown Spotlight.

Countless untold stories are waiting to be discovered within Chicago’s Chinese community. Whether you are passionate about tracking the local impact of public policy or highlighting personal narratives that reflect broader societal trends, we invite you to become a creator with us! We are also exploring new formats, including podcasts and videos.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Based in Chicago with a deep curiosity about the city and its Chinese American community.

  • Fascinated by local history, policy shifts, or community-driven issues.

  • Possess solid writing skills in either Chinese or English and a strong desire to express ideas.

What We Offer:

华埠焦点 Chinatown Spotlight 长期招募兼职记者及自由撰稿人

“地方新闻业是公共生活的基石。”

秉持这一理念，在麦克阿瑟基金会（MacArthur Foundation）的资助下 ，华埠更好团结联盟（CBCAC）正式启动了“华埠焦点 Chinatown Spotlight”这一芝加哥本地中文原创新闻项目 。我们通过原创新闻报道，记录华人移民的真实生活，解释政策对社区的影响，聚焦和增进社区公共利益 。

目前我们的平台涵盖：微信公众号“华埠Spotlight”、中英文网页Blog、以及每月出版的繁体中文纸刊《芝城華埠焦點》 。

在芝加哥的华人社区中，还有许许多多没有被充分发掘和讲述的故事 。无论你是对宏观政策的本地落点感兴趣，还是擅长用微观的个体故事映射大环境的变化，我们都诚挚邀请你加入，成为我们的内容创作者 ！
